Deceptively simple - real pain :-)
Many of you may have heard of or trained with The Lebert Buddy System.
It is deceptively simple (”Isn’t it just a TRX?”), but The Buddy System offers a set of unique benefits as well as real pain (of the good kind!) with the application of solid effort.
The Buddy System offers the opportunity to work unilaterally against the resistance of the other limb (arm or leg) which gives the following benefits:
- Maximal or near maximal tension throughout the range of motion (good for both maximal strength and muscle building)
- A very clear picture of any side to side differences in strength
- A controlled eccentric loading (good for both maximal strength and muscle building)
Certain exercises, like standing alternate push or pulls, seem to “magically” entice the client to move VERY agressively with a high degree of effort.
